Here's one for Pete!

My friend Peter, an attorney, often posts about one of two subjects on his blog, either beer or funny current new stories. Well, cheers, mate: here's one of each for you, and it involves the law to boot!

(quoting from The Cambridge Student newspaper, "The ones that got away" column, page 6 of the September 20, 2005 issue.)

Judge Jeffrey Sprecher of Pennsylvania threw out a case in August against a man who allegedly bought beer for his underage neighbour, ruling that the prosecutor had not proved all of the elements of the crime; specifically, there was no evidence offered that Miller Genuine Draft is actually "beer".

If you've ever had the misfortune of drinking a Miller Genuine Draft, you can see his confusion.

(And just in case you don't trust The Cambridge Student, the story was also reported in the 25 September 2005 edition of News of the Weird, under "Fine Points of the Law".)
