A Happy New Year to All

I marked the turning of the calendars the same way this year as last. For the the final hour, I listened to The Last Night of the Proms on BBC3, closing with the British National Anthem (God Save the Queen!), and the live sound of the chimes of Big Ben ringing midnight in Westminster. All the while, I was able to watch four separate fireworks displays from my third floor (fourth in America) flat, which looks out on several villages to the west and south. The fireworks were impressive for small villages -- doubly so, given that we were experiencing constant wind with gusts of 80 miles per hour.

All the same, a most agreeable way to welcome 2007. Cheers, all!
